HandyGames Selects Yodo1 as Its Strategic Partner for Entering China's Smartphone Market

Yodo1The only full-service publishing platform that helps Western game developers monetize the China smartphone market, is partnering with leading European mobile game publisher HandyGames to launch its iOS and Android games in China's rapidly expanding mobile market. The first five fully localized titles from HandyGames to hit China include Clouds & Sheep, Guns 'n Glory, Guns 'n Glory WW2, Happy Vikings and Infecct.

Yodo1 is managing the entire market entry process for HandyGames' titles, including adapting game mechanics and design elements to be more appealing to Chinese gamers, meeting local licensing requirements, creating additional monetization mechanics such as in-game purchases, integration with China ad networks and payment gateways, as well as protecting the IP rights of HandyGames' titles in the China market. Yodo1 also provides additional promotions for the games through its China consumer game review site Yoping, which is fully integrated with China's largest social networks including Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo (with over 500 million users), for additional social reach and discovery.

"HandyGames is one of the top smartphone games developers in the world, but like any Western game developer, China presents a variety of challenges and opportunities," said Henry Fong, CEO of Yodo1. "Working closely with the HandyGames team, we were able to quickly adapt and launch five of their popular titles across 15 leading Android App Stores in China within two weeks of signing our partnership."

"China is the fastest growing mobile games' market in the world, and the English versions of our games had already proved popular in the market with several million downloads," said Christopher Kassulke, CEO of HandyGames. "We're excited to work with Yodo1 to empower Chinese gamers to enjoy a truly localized experience on our games, their market knowledge and localization platform makes an otherwise painful process incredibly easy. We look forward to seeing huge success for all of our games in China through this critical partnership."

China's gaming market of paying players is 180 million and the mobile gamers population is expected to grow 31.8% to 215 million by the end of 2012, according to a recent reports by Niko Partners and Analysis International. Currently, about 75% of Chinese smartphone users download games. To learn more about Yodo1 and how to mobilize your games for China, please visit www.yodo1.com.
